The Washington, D.C. Gala Benefit is a yearly celebration that kicks off Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater’s annual engagement at The Kennedy Center. The Geolocated VR team was asked to document this special event in VR / 360-degree video. After watching the dance company perform on stage at the Kennedy Center, hundreds of VIP guests moved upstairs for what’s become a familiar starting bell to the social season in Washington — dinner, dancing and donating to the premiere Afro American dance troupe.

This event supports Ailey’s Washington, DC programs, including the creation of new works, arts-in-education activities, and scholarships to talented young dance students in the Washington area to attend The Ailey School in New York.
